Free Green Building Course

We’re very pleased to announce the release of our brand new online Green Building course, designed to educate inspectors about what green building is, why it’s important, and how to recognize green systems and features in homes.

Developed by InterNACHI member Kent Shepard, the course addresses the three main aspects of green building: energy-efficiency, sustainable materials and practices and healthy homes, helping teach inspectors to be safe during a home inspection. Click here to take the course, free of charge.

How Much Energy Are You Wasting?

These days, we have more and more electrical gadgets. You probably don’t think too much about them. After all, if a television or appliance is turned off, it isn’t drawing any power, right? Think again!

Many gadgets go into “standby mode” when they’re not in use, which means they’re quietly increasing your electricity bill. You can see how much power gadgets use in standby mode by visiting here.

Free Residential Electrical Systems Course

The recent live online electrical class presented by the Master Inspector Certification Board and BestInspectors.Net was very popular, but many members who wanted to attend were unable to do so. With that in mind, BestInspectors.Net has made a web-based version of the class available to all CMI and InterNACHI members at no charge.

The course – which counts as four hours of continuing education – focuses on identifying the common causes of electrical fires, explosions, or electrocution hazards. In it, you will learn which parts of an electrical system are most important to inspect, and how to inspect them. You’ll also learn how to evaluate an electrical system based what you can see without disassembling anything, why you may sometimes get false readings from electrical testers (and what to do about it) and how to properly perform the tests that will tell what you need to know about an electrical system.

Free Accounting Software
