Goodbye PowerPoint!

PowerPoint presentations are becoming a staple for home inspection professionals, and are a good way to share information with Realtors and prospective clients. Unfortunately, not all PowerPoint presentations go smoothly. For example, a recipient might not be able to open your presentation, or the file could become corrupted.

New Product and Service Seals

NACHI is pleased to release or new "Superior Product" and "Superior Service" seals for use by vendors to the home inspection industry at no cost. If you are a supplier of products or services to inspectors and wish to use either seal, email fastreply@nachi.org for permission. In cases where we are unfamiliar with your product or service, you will be required to permit and help NACHI staff evaluate it.

“A Computer In Your Pocket”

These days, many of us use a thumb drive or iPod to carry important documents around… but what if you want to carry more than just data? Perhaps you want to make sure you always have access to Outlook or your favorite instant messaging program. You can use thumb drives to run many programs, but you’re limited to portable versions of software. And some programs (like Outlook) don't have portable versions at all.

MojoPac changes that. This free program lets you install Outlook and other programs on your thumb drive or iPod. MojoPac creates a virtual machine. Lay Out Pages Like A Pro

There’s no doubt that Microsoft Word is a capable page layout tool, but sometimes, you need a more advanced program. For instance, a print publication (like a brochure) often requires a desktop-publishing program.

You could spend more than $1,000 on desktop publishing software. Or, you could download Scribus for free. Scribus offers professional page design, including many of the great features of expensive programs.

Now, page design typically has a steep learning curve, but Scribus offers a free support community full of people available to help, share tips, tricks, etc.
